What's considered collectively acceptable
Is only personally viable
If in line with the truth
Of you
Otherwise
What's, who's, truly wise
Is really and truly in disguise
Putting up a front, taking on some guise
Now this may seem obvious enough
And yet how many times has whatever manner of true love
Been swept under the rug
For fear of shaking things up, in order to stay 'comfortably' snug
Has being oneself
Been left on the shelf
To collect dust
And rust
This isn't an indictment
On anyone's personality or humanity
As it is a call for enlightenment
To live life wholeheartedly
Not egocentrically
But concentrically
In love
Perfect in every way and yet that becomes
